(KMOV)—The former Illinois State Police Trooper blamed for causing a wreck that killed two sisters has filed a worker’s compensation case against his former department.
Matt Mitchell says the Illinois State Police should pay for his crash-related injuries.
Authorities have said that Mitchell was driving more than 100 miles per hour and texting on his cell phone right before he collided with Jessica and Kelli Uhl’s car in 2007. Both girls died.
Mitchell pleaded guilty to reckless homicide and is currently on probation.
