(KMOV) – Conflict surrounding an adolescent dispute possibly over a boy led to a SWAT team standoff in Meacham Park in Kirkwood early Monday morning.

The incident happened in the 400 block of Saratoga just after 7 a.m. when the suspect, 28-year-old Antoine Hayes, reportedly drove his teenage daughter to several bus stops looking for a girl she reportedly had a dispute with the previous day.

The parents of the children then got involved in the dispute.

Officials say Hayes and his daughter drove away from the bus stop, after Hayes allegedly fired a single shot into the air.

Hayes returned to his home and police say they cordoned off the area for several hours until the suspect’s attorney and the Kirkwood Police Department convinced the man to surrender.

Hayes surrendered to police just after 1 p.m. at his home on Saratoga without incident. He was arrested for unlawful use of a weapon stemming from fights that happened at area bus stops near the intersection of Electric and Orleans in Kirkwood.

No injuries were reported.

Hayes will be transferred to the St. Louis County Jail and held on a $10,000 bond.
