Police catch shooting suspect with GPS security system

(KMOV) -- A man who shot a woman and robbed four people was caught after he stole a car with On-Star Saturday.

Police said two people were sitting near a parking lot for the Art Museum on Fine Arts Drive when they were approached by an armed man who took their wallets at about 1:30 a.m. The robber also tried to take the victims’ cell phones and vehicle, but the suspect fled the scene on foot.

Police said about an hour later the suspect robbed a couple near Government and Wells and shot a woman in the face at about 2:50 a.m. The male ran away from the robber and the female tried to drive away in a car when she was shot. The suspect again tried to take their vehicle, but fled the scene in an unknown direction.

The female victim is in stable condition.

Police took the man into custody in Perryville, Mo., after they tracked a different vehicle he stole in St. Louis that was equipped with On-Star.
