(KMOV) – Police are looking for a man who is suspected of robbing the Southern Commercial Bank at 3207 Meramec Wednesday around 2:20 p.m.

St. Louis police say that a bank teller reported a black male dressed as a female entered the bank, handed a note to the teller indicating he had a gun and demanded money. The suspect also reportedly threatened to shoot the teller.

The suspect reportedly never displayed a gun. Officials say the teller complied with the suspect's demands and the alleged robber then fled the bank in an unknown direction with an undetermined amount of cash.

The suspect is described as a black man wearing a dark curly wig. He is believed to be between 35-40 years old, about six feet tall and weighing between 175-200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a woman's blouse with blue vertical stripes, grey pants and white tennis shoes.

Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact CrimeStoppers at 1-866-371-TIPS. A $1,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.

This is the second time a cross-dressing bank robber has hit the St. Louis area.

Last month, a black man dressed as a woman hit a bank in the 2900 block of Telegraph Road.

The descriptions and photos of the two suspects are similar, but police have not confirmed whether the same man is responsible for both robberies.
