   ST. LOUIS (AP) -- The St. Louis Cardinals are among five teams hosting openers on March 31 next season.
   The Cardinals open a six-game homestand with three games against the San Diego Padres. St. Louis closes the season with a three-game series at Houston Sept. 26-28.
   The schedule includes two nine-game homestands, June 17-26 and Sept. 2-11.
   Cincinnati, Washington, Kansas City and the New York Yankees also are scheduled for openers. One of the games is expected to be moved up to the night of March 30.
