(KMOV) – Police have arrested a teen in connection with an overnight fire at a Wal-Mart Supercenter in Wood River, Illinois.
According to police, Dustin Walls, 17, was arrested and later charged with one count of aggravated arson, which is a class X felony.
The fire broke out in the health and beauty department around 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
A Wood River Fire Captain tells News 4 the fire didn’t last long thanks to the sprinkler system inside the store. The fire damage was contained to a small area but the smoke was intense. Crews spent about two hours getting the smoke out of the building.
The store is typically open 24 hours. It will remain closed until Friday.
Two other ‘persons of interests,’ a 17-yeard old and a 19-year-old woman were questioned and released.
Walls is being held on a $200,000 bond.
