(KMOV) – There is good news regarding a raging house fire in the Metro-East.

The man that rescuers were looking for inside the burning home has been found alive. He was actually nowhere near the home at the time of the blaze.

The fire broke out around 8:30 p.m. Monday in the 100 block of Parr in Fairview Heights, Illinois.

It took four to five volunteer fire districts to battle the flames. Firefighters were not able to get inside of the home while the fire burned because of the its intensity.

Three firefighters were treated for heat-related injuries, but they are expected to recover.

The Red Cross is assisting the family that lived in the home.
