Mother furious after sons dropped off at south St. Louis bus stop with no parent present

ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – A mother is furious after her 5- and 7-year-old sons were dropped off at a school bus with a man they did not know in south St. Louis on Wednesday.

“Me and my brother were crying because the bus driver didn’t listen to me,” Trevon Bain, 7, said.  “I told him we couldn’t go across the street.”

The mother then saw a stranger walking the two children home from the corner of Bates and Grand Blvd.

“I am furious because I don’t know who this man is and I am always there to pick my children up.  If it is not me, it is my husband.  We are the only two,” Mary Bain, the boys’ mother, said.

The mother said that the bus was 10 minutes early and should have waited for her.

The First Student safety supervisor says that parents should be at their kids’ bus stop 10 minutes before and after the student’s scheduled stop.  He also says it is company policy for a driver to continue the route and come back once a parent is present.

First Student plans to investigate the incident.
