ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – A major clean-up effort to remove graffiti off walls in St. Louis was underway Wednesday afternoon.
An official with Operation Brightside says the group makes it their priority to clean the illegal artwork in the area, including a graffiti-filled wall along Interstate 55.
“We have actually seen an increase in graffiti, not just in the number of locations but also in the size of the graffiti on the wall,” Marylou Green said. “It requires a lot more resources, time and paint and efforts to clean it off.”
The fine for graffiti can be as high as $500, but the person usually has to be caught in the act.
