Prince Harry tours Bahamas for Queens Jubilee

NASSAU - Prince Harry is taking a grand tour of the Caribbean this week, representing his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II. His frist solo overseas visit on behalf of the queen is part of the Diamond Jubilee celebration marking her 60 years as Britain’s monarch.

Tourists and locals packed the center of Nassau Sunday to try to get a peek at the prince. Arriving by motorcade, with the Union Jack flying overhead, the third-in-line to the throne seemed as delighted as those who turned out.

The 27-year-old prince brought a message to the nation of 700 islands from his grandmother. He said, “The Bahamas holds a special place in Her Majesty’s heart.”

The Bahamas also holds sentimental value for the prince. It’s where his father Prince Charles and mother Princess Diana spent their honeymoon back in 1982.

Prince Harry will spend the day Monday touring the Bahamas before departing for Jamaica.
