(KMOV) – Cameras have been placed in five areas of Maplewood in hopes of catching criminals in the act or even preventing crimes from happening according to officials.
The city has installed Security cameras in parking lots, along Manchester and at a park. All the cameras are recorded in case police have to go back and look at them. The feeds come back to a big screen where all the cameras can be seen at once and zoomed in to focus on a face or a license plate.
So far one person has been caught after telling police he was robbed, but police say the person was proven to be false after reviewing the video.
The cameras cost $125,000 in seized cash from drug busts so it was no cost to taxpayers.
