(KMOV) – Drivers in West St. Louis County will begin dealing with a construction project on Long Road near Wildhorse Creek Road. The road is a major thoroughfare to Interstate 64. County officials say drivers can expect lane restrictions and in the coming months, a road closure during the project.
Construction will lead to an extension between Long and Kehrs Mill Road, so drivers will have a wider road and deal with less congestion according to officials.
Long Road currently carries more than 24,000 vehicles a day. Officials say the rapid growth of Chesterfield led to an increase in traffic on a narrow road slowing the commute.
The project, set to be completed early next year, will help drivers get to Interstate 64 a little easier.
