Man charged for exposure and attempted child abduction in East St. Louis

(KMOV.com) -- A 19-year-old man has been charged after police said he exposed himself to a child in East St. Louis last Thursday.
The St. Clair State's Attorney's office has charged Michael Hughes Jr. with Sexual Exploitation of a Child. According to reports, Hughes exposed his penis for the purpose of sexual arousal of a child. The child's age was not given. Hughes was also charged with Unlawful Restraint for attempting to abduct the young child. During the attempted abduction, police said the man dragged the young boy under a porch. That's where, authorities said, the alleged exposure took place.
On February 23rd, East St. Louis Police received a call around 8:19 a.m. about the matter and responded to a home in the 700 block of 81st Street. When officers arrived, they were unable to locate the suspect.
On February 24th, around 2 p.m., police received a tip the suspect was at a home in the 600 block of North 83rd Street. Officers responded to the location and took Mr. Hughes into custody. His bail has been set at $500,000.
