BELLEVILLE, Ill. (KMOV.com) – A Belleville teen is facing multiple charges after authorities allege he gave synthetic drugs to his 12-year-old brother.

Billy J. Vance was charged with violation of the smoking herbs control act and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.  Both charges are misdemeanors.

Officers on Monday responded to a report of a possible overdose at a residence in the 1000 block of Cool Valley Drive.

When they arrived, they found a 12-year-old boy who possibly had a seizure due to smoking synthetic drugs.  It was later determined that Vance supplied the drugs to his younger brother and that the young boy had overdosed.

The victim was taken to a St. Louis hospital for treatment.  There was no word on his condition.

Vance was arrested and taken to police headquarters.

Police did not say where he will be held. Bond information was not immediately available.

Personnel with the Department of Children and Family Services are investigating the case.
