WORDEN, Ill. (KMOV.com) – A Worden, Illinois man was arrested Tuesday morning after reports he tried to hit people with his vehicle in the parking lot of an Edwardsville bar.
Authorities said they received a call to respond to Gilliganz Bar at 7251 St. James Drive around 1:53 a.m. The Madison County Sheriff’s Office said they received a call for the same location reporting a fight.
Officers from the sheriff’s department arrived on the scene and were told by witnesses that a man started a fight inside the bar and was asked to leave. Witnesses also told police the man attempted to strike people with his vehicle.
The suspect has been identified as Shawn P. Grizzle Sr. from the 8100 block of Possum Hill Road in Worden, Illinois.
According to reports, Grizzle had left the scene by the time officers arrived. Deputies later located Grizzle at his home. He reportedly has a suspended driver’s license. During questioning, police said he provided false information to deputies.
After questioning, deputies attempted to arrest Grizzle, but he resisted. Grizzle was eventually taken into custody. He is now facing multiple charges, including disorderly conduct, obstructing a peace officer, driving with a suspended license and resisting arrest. Grizzle was held on $450 bond. Authorities did not say if Grizzle posted bond.
