3-Alarm fire damages building in downtown St. Louis

ST. LOUIS (KMOV)—3-alarm fire breaks out inside a one-story building in downtown St. Louis late Wednesday night.

According to fire officials, the fire started shortly after 11 p.m. on the 1500 block of Papin, just north of Chouteau. The fire was promoted to a third alarm in an effort to prevent spread to nearby buildings.

The building appeared to be unoccupied at the time of the blaze, no report of injuries.

The fire damaged a substantial amount of the building, no word on what started the fire.

Fire officials are investigating.
