St. Louis-area Sikhs plan vigil to remember deadly shooting victims

ST. PETERS, Mo. (KMOV) – A vigil was planned Wednesday night in the St. Louis area to honor the victims killed in a shooting at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin.

According to a member of the Creve Coeur Sikh community, the vigil was scheduled to be held at the St. Peters Gurudwara in the 100 block of Willis Road starting at 7 p.m.

The member said there were about 100 Sikh families in the St. Louis area between the Creve Coeur congregation and the Gurudwara in St. Peters.

Vigil organizers said the event was open to the public, Sikh or not.

Six people were killed in the shooting at the Sikh temple in suburban Milwaukee on Sunday. The suspect, identified as Wade Michael Page, was killed outside the temple in a shootout with police officers.
