ST. LOUIS -- A 4-year-old boy was critically injured after being thrown from a speeding car that crashed and overturned in St. Louis’ Forest Park Tuesday night.
Police told the boy’s father was driving and was arrested for suspicion of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
Police say the boy wasn’t in a child safety seat when the speeding car struck a vehicle from behind near the intersection of South Kingshighway and Laclede. Both cars then struck several parking meters.
The father’s car veered off the road and went into the park, where it hit a fire hydrant and flipped over, landing upside down.
The child was transported to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
The name of the boy’s 23-year-old father was not released. No one else was hurt.
The Associated Press contributed to this report.
