EAST ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – East St. Louis police tell News 4 a new crime-fighting initiative called “Save Our Streets” is working.
Since the initiative started last month, local police and federal agents are now credited with arresting seven men accused of luring, beating and torturing a man in July. The team has also solved a murder case from last year.
“A lot of those homicides were still open. We just didn’t have the resources or manpower to finish up on them so with that happening we are able to close cases now and I am sure some of the families are happy about that we are able to close some of these cases. You know, it is a start,” East St. Louis Police Chief Michael Floore said.
Chief Floore says several of the most violent criminal cases are connected through retaliation.
