ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV) – Authorities are on the lookout for suspects who have been posing as utility workers to get people's homes in at least two cities in St. Louis County.
Police said on Monday two men wearing orange vests and hard hats approached a woman living in the 10000 block of Litzsinger in Ladue.
Authorities said the men, who were posing as American Water workers, told her they needed to shut her water off for five minutes.
Police said they came back around 7 p.m. and told the woman they needed to go inside her home to check for containments in the water.
Authorities said the woman asked for credentials and the suspects fled the area on foot.
Police said on Tuesday a man wearing an orange vest and hard hat approached a Creve Coeur resident at her home in the 500 block of Coeur de Royal around 3 p.m.
Authorities said the man told her he was working on a water main break. Police said the woman did not believe him and called police. He then left the scene.
American Water officials said they had no workers in the area during both incidents.
Anyone with information on the incidents is asked to call the Ladue Police Department at 314-993-1214.
