(KMOV.com) – Authorities have charged a Metro-East man after police responded to a domestic battery and criminal damage to property in progress in Caseyville on Monday.
Upon further investigation by State’s Attorney Brendan Kelly’s office, Brandon J. Johnson, 27, was charged with aggravated domestic battery, domestic battery, two counts of criminal damage to property over $300, and reckless driving early Monday evening.
According to police, St. Clair County Sheriff Department Deputies Jacob Hoffman and Jesse Carmack received a call about a domestic battery in the 900 block of Wells Ave.
The victim reported her ex-boyfriend grabbed her around the neck in an attempt to choke her. The victim was thrown to the ground and punched several times.
Prior to deputies’ arrival, Johnson left the scene driving a vehicle. He then struck two vehicles, one of which was occupied, while fleeing the scene.
The Caseyville Police Department located Johnson and took him into custody.
Brandon Johnson is currently in the St. Clair County Jail.
A St. Clair County Judge has set bond at $75,000.
