(KMOV)—A News 4 viewer shared their concern over utility work on the streets of Laclede’s Landing that could be deemed unsafe.
The concerned resident says there is a hole in the street with crumbling sidewalks surrounding it.
News 4 asked the city streets department about the problem and the director told reporter Jasmine Huda, it’s all part of an Ameren Missouri project.
They are rebuilding part of the underground infrastructure and the director says that area is safe.
“By our standards, you can see there’s ribbon around this. There’s guys’ standing around keeping people away. They have the barriers here. They have the road closed signs. They’re very safety-oriented. As this progresses, they’ll bring more and more material to protect it and make it safe,” St Louis Streets Director Todd Waelterman stated.
The project is expected to last several weeks.
A federally-funded project to restore several blocks of the Landing will begin in the fall.
