Blues need historical run to win series

In NHL history, just three teams have come back from being down (0-3) to win the series; the 1942 Maple Leafs, the 1975 Islanders and the 2010 Flyers.

Now stuck in a 0-3 hole of their own, the Blues will try to become the fourth team to accomplish that feat.

If they are to complete what would be a miraculous comeback, they need nearly every facet of their game to improve.  The Note is 0-14 on the power play this series, and is now 0-28 on the PP against in Kings when including regular season play.

Once reliable, I’m not sure who Brian Elliott is these days. Not all the goals he’s allowed are his fault, but allowing 11 goals in three games can’t happen.  And the Blues’ top six forwards have scored a combined two goals.

The Blues are saying all the right things, but now it’s time to turn the talk into results.  Captain David Backes said it’s ‘gut check time,’ while Matt D’Agostini says don’t count the team out just yet.  But with the way they’re playing it’s easy to say the Blues are finished.

But as bad as the Note looks in this series, you have to give credit to the Kings. They’re playing smarter, tougher, more aggressive and they’re a more discipline hockey team right now.

L.A. has won four straight games and is (7-1) in the post season.  They took down the President Trophy winning Canucks in the first round and they’re on the verge of sweeping the Central Division champs. The eight seed looks like the two seed in this series.
