Water main break damages road in Webster Groves

WEBSTER GROVES, Missouri (KMOV.com) -- Workers in Webster Groves had to fight a water main break for the second consecutive day on Thursday.

Officials said  the break happened on Watson Road just west of Elm around 7 a.m.

The water pressure of the break caused the pavement on Watson to buckle. Police blocked both eastbound lanes of Watson diverted eastbound traffic into the center turn lane near the break.

Crews responded to the scene and had the water main fixed by about 12 p.m. The water was turned back around 1:45 p.m.

Officials said street repairs were underway and should be completed in time for Thursday's rush hour drive home.

On Wednesday afternoon, crews had tend to a water main break at Plymouth and Big Bend.  There is no word if the most recent break is a direct result of the first.
