ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – A St. Louis bar is hosting a candlelight vigil on Wednesday to remember a man killed over the weekend when straight-line winds whipped through its tent near Busch Stadium.
The vigil will be held at Kilroy’s Bar immediately following the Cardinals vs. Pirates game.
“Kilroy’s would like to send their condolences to the Goodman family and remember Alfred’s life by holding a candle light vigil,” the bar stated in a release on Tuesday.
The large tent outside Kilroy’s was picked up by wind Saturday, sending debris and aluminum poles that make up the bones of the tent flying.
Alfred Goodman, 58, was killed when the tent collapsed. One hundred others were hurt, the majority of them treated for cuts and bruises at the scene. Seventeen others were taken to the hospital. By Monday afternoon, two were still in intensive care at SLU Hospital. Barnes-Jewish Hospital said that the last of five patients transported there was released on Monday morning.
“There will be a balloon release of 100 red and white balloons in memory of Alfred,” the statement read. “There will also be a reading dedicated to the people involved in this unfortunate situation. We ask that you wear Cardinal’s gear since Alfred Goodman was such a huge baseball fan.”
