LAKE ST. CLAIR, Missouri (KMOV) – The search resumed Thursday for a man suspected of killing his girlfriend in a Lake St. Clair home.
Police are searching for Michael Murphy, 57, who was last seen fleeing the scene where his girlfriend, 41, was found shot to death in the 1400 block of Oakwood Drive.
Police said Murphy reportedly fled the scene in a pick-up truck, but abandoned it on Peacock Road. He was last seen on foot in the area of West Springfield Road and Gravois Road.
Officers confirmed they were looking for Murphy’s brother who lives in the St. Louis area. He was located and interviewed by police on Thursday night.

Franklin County Sheriff Gary Toelke says K-9 units and divers were brought out to help in the search Thursday, but found nothing. Authorities said about 20 deputies were walking in a line through the woods Thursday evening looking for evidence. Police said the operations would be over once they finished and would continue to search wherever they get a new lead.
Toelke says Murphy and the victim had an on-again/off-again relationship and it's believed the couple has two children. Police have not yet released the victim's name.
Murphy is a white male, 5-feet-8-inches tall, 210 pounds and was last seen wearing blue jean shorts and a t-shirt. Police are unsure if he is armed.
A shot was heard in the neighborhood shortly before 10 p.m. on Wednesday night.
A 13-year-old boy said he heard the whole thing.
“It was loud, I heard screaming and shooting at the same time, about five or six shots,” said Kurt Short, Jr.
Toelke, has put out a warning to nearby residents asking anyone who spots Murphy to call the Franklin County Sheriff's Department (636-583-2560.) Toelke also warned residents not to approach Murphy because he may still be armed.
