SIUE holds memorial service for students killed in apartment fire

EDWARDSVILLE, Illinois (KMOV.com) -- A candle light memorial service was held Wednesday for two SIUE students who died in an apartment fire Monday.

The service for Lauren Petersen and Lacy Siddall was held on the SIUE quad with more than 100 students and faculty in attendance

A student organization, Across Between Campus Ministry, organized the service to honor and remember the two young girls.

Petersen, 19, and Siddall, 21, both of Bethalto, were transported to the hospital after an apartment fire at 648 Hillsboro Avenue in Edwardsville on Sunday.

On Monday morning, officials reported that both girls passed away as a result of injuries they suffered in the fire.
