St. Louis settles over tavern shooting involving off-duty officer

ST. LOUIS -- The city of St. Louis has agreed to pay $275,000 to a man shot by an off-duty police officer he tried to help during a 2008 dustup outside a southwestern Illinois tavern.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports the St. Louis police board voted 3-1 recently to award the settlement to Jeffrey Bladdick.

He sued former St. Louis policeman Bryan Pour, the city of St. Louis, its police department and Mac and Mick’s Sports Bar N Grill of Pontoon Beach, Ill.

The lawsuit claimed that Bladdick was trying to help Pour during a 2008 brawl outside the tavern when Pour shot him. Pour’s attorney has said that was an accident.

Pour later pleaded guilty in Madison County, Ill., to a reduced weapons count and received four years of probation.
