WELLSTON, Missouri (KMOV.com) -- Police say a 70-year-old who was struck by a vehicle near Normandy High School Tuesday morning had been drinking.
According to Wellston authorities, the accident happened around 4:15 a.m. in the 1600 block of Lucas and Hunt.
Police said a man wearing dark clothes was walking in the middle of the street when an oncoming vehicle struck him. The driver stopped to help the man and called 911.
Emergency crews arrived on the scene a short time later. They said the victim reported hurting all over. Authorities determined he had been drinking.
The victim was taken to a St. Louis hospital with unknown injuries.
