(KMOV) -- A fundraiser at Lafayette High School on Saturday paid special tribute to four local service members who died serving their country.
Students in a Junior Air Force ROTC class helped organize a barbecue to raise money for the Peter Navarro Scholarship Fund. Navarro, a Lafayette High School alumnus, died in 2005 while serving in Iraq.
Last year's fundraiser brought in nearly $10,000, but families of the fallen soldiers say it's about more than the money. The families say the event makes living without their sons a little easier to bear.
