(KMOV) – This holiday season, you might notice more Illinois State Troopers along state highways.
In 2009, there were 12 fatalities on the roads in Illinois, and 800 others were injured. Troopers are cracking down on seatbelt use and distracted drivers.
Officials say if you choose not to use your seatbelt, you will receive a ticket – and if you drink and drive, you’ll be locked up.
Officers also want to remind drivers to slow down, change lanes and proceed with caution if they see an emergency vehicle or snow plow.
