(KMOV) – The United States Securities and Exchange Commission has filed suit against a Belleville man and his company.
The complaint says that Edward Moskop has stolen hundreds of thousands of dollars from investors.
According to the lawsuit, an elderly couple invested more than $300,000 with Edward Moskop and Associates over the past 20 years. Now, the couple, an 88-year-old man and an 84-year-old woman, says their life savings are gone.
The lawsuit says that Moskop claims to have more than 5000 investors including 60 high-dollar investors or “premium clients.”
Moskop is accused of misappropriating funds and forging documents and statements to the couple.
The couple says they had 16 different investments valued at nearly $600,000. When they tried to redeem any of their investments, the couple says the checks bounced.
At this point, these are allegations laid out in a lawsuit against Moskop from the SEC. Moskop has not been convicted.
In the meantime, a U.S. district court judge has ordered the company’s assets be frozen.
