(KMOV) – A St. Peters-based Army Reserve unit said goodbye to friends and family on Saturday before shipping out for a year in the Middle East.
A departure ceremony was held at St Peters City Hall for the 332nd Medical Logistics Company.
The soldiers will deploy to Qatar where they’ll support the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The 50-member Army Reserve Company will provide medical supplies and repairs to medical equipment.
Soldiers say they’ll miss their families, but are anxious to do their jobs.
“I'm ready to serve my country,” says Sergeant Kevin Ford. “I'm ready to take the skills the army has given to me and apply those in this mission that were currently involved in."
The soldiers fly out Sunday morning for training at Fort Lewis, Washington before shipping out for their one-year deployment to the Middle East.
