Cortez Beasley and alleged abductor found Friday night
By Bryce Moore
(KMOV) – After a long six hours, 18-month-old, Cortez Beasley and his alleged abductor, Tashi Lance, were found Friday night. Cortez is currently being treated at St. Louis Children’s Hospital.
Cortez’s uncle says the toddler should be able to go home Friday night and that he has been very playful.
Police are not releasing much information, other than Tashi Lance is now in the St. Louis County Police Headquarters for questioning.
It was discovered that this is not Lance’s first run-in with the law, as she was charged with stealing, in September of 2009 and was also charged with second and third degree assault. Those incidents happened in St. Peters.
The kidnapping occurred just before 2 p.m., Friday, when Lorraine Hudson, Cortez’s mother, was shopping at the Jennings Target. Hudson ran into Tashi Lance, an acquaintance she knew from the job corps.
Lance offered to watch Cortez while his mother took another child into the restroom.
Police say that gave Lance just enough time to take Cortez out of the store and sped off in an SUV.
Cortez’s family wants to express their thanks to everyone involved in the search for Cortez.
More information on the kidnapping will be posted as soon as it becomes available.
