Popular painkiller medication, Darvon, pulled from shelves

(KMOV) -- The popular painkiller medication, Darvon or Darvocet, has been pulled from pharmacy shelves because it may cause potentially deadly heart rhythms.

The Food and Drug Administration, FDA, says Darvon or Darvocet interferes with the heart’s electrical activity.

The FDA also asked generic drug makers to stop marketing low-cost drugs containing the active ingredient.

Darvon is already banned in Britain and the European Union
