(KMOV) – Police say a 20-year-old employee at Jennings High School has been identified as the suspect involved in a sexual assault involving a 15-year-old female student.
According to police, the assault happened after school in September, but school administrators did not report the incident until last week.
The girl says the suspect held a sharp object to her stomach and raped her.
Family members of the victim say she waited several weeks to come forward because she was ashamed.
The 15-year-old has been suspended from school, but her grandmother does not understand why, since she says she was the victim of sexual assault.
Police say the man was arrested and released. Formal charges are pending.
Family members say the victim will not return to Jennings High School.
