(KMOV) – A Fairview Heights, Illinois woman was sentenced Friday for filing a false tax return and making false statement on a Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program application.
Chevette Gill must spend one year in prison and will be on three years of supervised release. She must repay $227,226 for filing the false tax return and making false statements on the food stamp application.
Gill admitted to under paying nearly $30,000 in federal income taxes, from 2005 to 2007. She also defrauded three investors of about $183,000.
She also pleaded guilty to receiving nearly $3,000 in federal Pell Grants, for which she was not eligible for.
