AFFTON, Mo. (KMOV) – Prosecutors say a parishioner working at a concession stand for an Affton basketball tournament was charged with stealing funds from the church.

Stacy Funke, 30, was charged on Tuesday with stealing more than $500 when a money envelope went missing from Seven Holy Founders Catholic Church.

Funke was working the concession stand during a girls’ basketball tournament when an envelope, containing money, went missing from the gym cabinet on December 2, 2012.

Funke confessed to police to stealing the envelope which contained about $840. She reportedly used the funds to pay outstanding bills and other family expenses, according to court documents.

The church is located on 6741 S. Rock Hill Road in Affton.

Stacy Funke’s bail was set at $7,500.
