JUPITER, Fla (BaseballStL) - Fomer Cardinals manager Whitey Herzog is in camp helping out following in the footsteps of Jim Edmonds, Ozzie Smith, Bruce Sutter among others.

Herzog's in uniform today at Port St. Lucie and told Mike Matheny he'd like to go on some road trips while he's here.

Matheny says having the former manager here with him is a chance to better himself in what he does with the current team.

"I grilled him the whole way here," Matheny said. "You got this guy in this situation, what would you be thinking?  And I balanced that with what was going through my head.  It's a great learning opportunity."

Matheny also says Herzog has a great memory and does a great job of relaying what he remembers to others.
