FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) – Police in northern Indiana say a 3-year-old who was held hostage for hours by a suspect in a fatal bus shooting was returned safely.
Spokeswoman for the Fort Wayne police Raquel Foster told The Journal Gazette about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday that the child was safe. Whether the child was rescued by police or the suspect was in custody was not immediatley clear.
Police said about 1 p.m. that the suspect had holed up in a house with the child near where a woman was pulled from the city bus and fatally shot earlier Wednesday.
The relationship between the suspect, the victim and the child wasn't immediately known.
