(KMOV) -- The St. Louis County Bomb and Arson Squad safely contained a suspicious package spotted on Cypress Road near the cell phone lot.
Crews hit the item with a high powered hose to try and disarm the object.
Police say the object, which turned out to be harmless, was dropped by a person who was spotted acting suspiciously near the fence that runs along the perimeter of the runways.
Airport Police Chief Paul Mason tells News 4 the suspicious person is a 56-year-old St. Louis man.
No word yet if there will be any charges in the incident.
Interstate 70 was shut down briefly as were some access roads into the airport.
