BLAIN, Pa. (AP) -- A trooper says a fire at a farmhouse in rural Pennsylvania has killed seven children while their mother was in a barn milking cows and their father was taking a nap in a delivery truck.
The children ranged in age from 7 months to 11 years.
State Trooper Tom Pinkerton says the fire erupted Tuesday night in Blain, north of Harrisburg. He says one child escaped the fire. He says the child saw smoke in the home and alerted the mother.
Pinkerton says the father had left the two-story home to get his milk delivery truck. He says the father drove a short distance to pick up milk and nodded off.
The trooper says the mother and the child ran down the road and banged on the truck's windows to let the father know their house was engulfed in flames.
