ST. LOUIS (KMOV) -- Since the City of St. Louis closed its pound last June, the Animal Protective Association (APA) reported more stray and abused dogs throughout the area.

Humane Society President Kathy Warnick, however, thinks the report is biased because the shelter had a 38 percent increase in stray animals since last June. The APA had a 71 percent increase.

The report was initiated this year by Washington University and the APA.
