(KMOV) – One suspect is in custody in connection to three arsons in Belleville reported on February 27, officials say.
The first arson happened in the 300 block of Lebanon Avenue. Police say the victim reported he went outside to throw something in the trash, and 10 minutes later he found his gas barbecue grill on fire on his porch. The victim ran inside to get a bucket of water and extinguished the fire.
The second arson was reported in the 900 block of North Charles Street. That victim reported that two plastic sleds were placed into a trash can and lit on fire. The victim’s boyfriend ran outside and extinguished the fire with a bucket of water, officials say.
The last arson happened in the 600 block of Benton Ave. A juvenile alerted an officer to a home where an unattached wooden shed in the back yard was ablaze.
The fire department was contacted in all three cases.
The suspect in these arsons has not yet been charged. Police will release a name once this happens.
