(KMOV) -- A man charged with gunning down a University City police officer has been found guilty.
Todd Shepard admitted to killing Sgt. Michael King in order to “start a revolution.” On Thursday, close to two hours of testimony was given by a prominent clinical psychiatrist who said Shepard is delusional and obsessed with igniting a revolution he claims was a mission set on him by God.
Sgt. King was gunned down in his police car on Halloween of 2008 while he was on patrol in the Delmar Loop.
Shepard was found guilty of 1st degree murder and armed criminal action.
The jury must still decide on sentencing for Shepard, which will either be life in prison or the death penalty.
