(KMOV)-- A Normandy High School student was arrested for bringing a gun on campus.
School District Superintendent Stanton Lawrence said district administrators received information Monday from law enforcement officials that a student may be in possession of a weapon.
Campus administrators immediately began an investigation and identified the student suspected of carrying the weapon. With the assistance of the Wellston Police Department, school officials seized the 38-caliber revolver.
The 18-year-old senior was taken into custody without incident. His parents were notified and his disciplinary consequences will follow established district policy. The district will also be filing parental neglect complaints against his parents.
Classes continued at the school Tuesday without further incident.
A letter from the high school principal was sent home with students with information for parents about the incident.
This is the 3rd gun related incident at Normandy High School this school year.
