Suspect charged in connection with north St. Louis liquor store murder

(KMOV) -- Police have identified a suspect in connection with the case of a 39-year-old man who was shot and killed at a liquor store in north St. Louis in February of 2011.

This happened in the 4900 block of Natural Bridge.

Witnesses told police that the victim, Stephen Ward, and a suspect were both inside the PX Liquor Store. The two men got into an argument when the suspect cut in front of several other people in line. The suspect walked out of the store and then came back in and started shooting at Ward.

Ward was shot in the torso. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect has been identified as 30-year-old Theodis Holmes of the 1300 block of Goodfellow. Holmes has been charged with first degree murder and armed criminal action.

He was taken into custody in Arkansas on December 13, 2011. He is not yet in St. Louis police custody.
