Flags to fly at half-staff to honor Hawk Point police chief killed in crash

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Flags will fly at half staff Tuesday in Lincoln and Warren counties to honor a police chief killed in a one-car crash.
The remembrance comes on the same day that funeral services are planned for Hawk Point Police Chief Paul Fricke.
Fricke was on duty Friday morning when his car went off the right side of Missouri 47 in the eastern part of the state.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said he returned to the road and then skidded off the left side of the road and hit a utility pole.
The 37-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
Fricke had been the part-time police chief in Hawk Point for about five years. He also was a deputy with the Warren County Sheriff's Department.
Hawk Point is a town of about 450 residents in eastern Missouri.
