(KMOV) -- The Humane Society of Missouri took custody of several animals rescued from a Greene County property.

The HSMO Animal Cruelty Task Force initially rescued the animals, including 17 exotic birds and 9 Chihuahuas. The ACTF was requested by the Greene County Sheriff’s Department while executing a search warrant. The owner surrendered custody of the animals.

Green Cheek Conures, Amazon Parrots, Macaws, Indian Ringneck Parakeets and an African Grey Parrot were all rescued. The Chihuahuas range in age from 2 to 6 years old.

The birds are suffering from upper respiratory infection, bruised wings, overgrown nails and cysts on their feathers. Some have plucked out most of their feathers.

The Chihuahuas have thin hair, ear infections, dental disease and missing teeth, knee problems and overgrown nails. Two of the dogs have damage to their jaws.

The birds and Chihuahuas will continue to receive treatment and will be made available for adoption as soon as possible. Persons interested in possible adoption may leave their contact information on the Latest Rescues page at www.hsmo.org.
