(KMOV) – Clayton law now prohibits smoking in city-owned parks, parking lots and athletic facilities, and many residents are saying the ban goes too far.
Clayton’s Board of Aldermen voted unanimously in favor of the ban.
Smoking is still allowed on streets, sidewalks and city-owned property leased to others.
The city says its research shows this is what residents want for their parks, but some residents have expressed their feelings against the new law.
The expanded outdoor smoking ban takes place January 1, 2011.
